چکیده

T issue’s “From the Editors” column is coauthored with all the associate editors, to emphasize their major role in the leadership of the journal. We first review this year’s operations and thank our editorial board and referees. Our first article, by David J. Johnstone, Victor Richmond R. Jose, and Robert L. Winkler, presents “Tailored Scoring Rules for Probabilities,” which take into account the decision maker’s specific situation. Next, in “Do Bayesians Learn Their Way Out of Ambiguity?,” Alexander Zimper addresses how people perceive ambiguous probabilities and how they update their perceptions. In our third article, Chen Wang and Vicki M. Bier examine “Target-Hardening Decisions Based on Uncertain Multiattribute Terrorist Utility.” The final article, by Stephen P. Chambal, Jeffery D. Weir, Yucel R. Kahraman, and Alex J. Gutman, is on “A Practical Procedure for Customizable One-Way Sensitivity Analysis in Additive Value Models.”

Mathematical modeling of dynamics behavior of terrorism and control

Terrorism is generally understood to be the use of threat or extra normal violence to gain ideological reasons and personal benefit. In this paper, a mathematical modelling of terrorism with military strategies and rehabilitation of terrorists was constructed. The model is developed to control the spread of terrorist ideologies in the society and suitable to describe terrorist group. The popula...

Target-Hardening Decisions Based on Uncertain Multiattribute Terrorist Utility

W e present a game-theoretic model to explore how uncertainty about terrorist preferences can affect optimal resource allocations for infrastructure protection. We consider a dynamic game with incomplete information , in which the defender chooses how to allocate her defensive resources, and then an attacker chooses which target to attack according to a multiattribute utility function. Our mode...

From the Editors - Deterrence, Multiattribute Utility, and Probability and Bayes' Updating

W review the past year in this issue’s “From the Editors” column, which is coauthored with Managing Editor Kelly M. Kophazi, then we preview this issue’s five research articles. Our first article, by Naraphorn Haphuriwat, Vicki M. Bier, and Henry H. Willis, is on “Deterring the Smuggling of Nuclear Weapons in Container Freight Through Detection and Retaliation.” Next, Ali E. Abbas presents a me...

A Compromise Ratio Ranking Method of Triangular Intuitionistic Fuzzy Numbers\ and Its Application to MADM Problems

Triangular intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (TIFNs) is a special case of intuitionistic fuzzy (IF) set and the ranking of TIFNs is an important problem. The aim of this paper is to develop a new methodology for ranking TIFNs by using multiattribute decision making methods (MADM). In this methodology, the value and ambiguity indices of TIFNs may be considered as the attributes and the TIFNs in compa...

Sensitivity analysis incorporating fuzzy evaluation for scaling constants of multiattribute utility functions

A multiattribute utility function can be represented by a function of single-attribute utility functions if the decision maker’s preference satisfies additive independence or mutually utility independence. Additive independence is a preference condition stronger than mutually utility independence, and the multiattribute utility function is in the additive form if the former condition is satisfi...
